Case Study - A Feature of Functional

Lauren has always admired the aesthetic of exposed brick and sought to replicate that style while minimising mess. Through her research, she discovered brick slips and came across various images of customer projects from The Brick Tile Company, and fell in love. With their high quality, they gave the exact look she desired.

She chose blend 71 with cream mortar as she liked the neutral and light tones of this pairing for her bedroom chimney breast.

She decided to do the project herself along with her partner, and they were so pleased they did. Lauren said, "It was our favourite DIY so far!! We loved the install process! It's immediate and strangely therapeutic. Buttering the mortar onto the bricks is so satisfying!"

Brick Slip Installation Corners

They found the installation process straightforward, thanks to the provided instructions. Lauren emphasised that a professional background isn't necessary to achieve an impressive end result.

In addition to using full slips, Lauren incorporated corner brick slips into her project. These L-shaped brick slips are designed to fit around external corners, maintaining the aesthetic continuity of the brickwork. They are crafted by cutting the face of the brick down to 22mm from the end and then adjusting the header to form the L-shape, preserving the look and texture of a full brick. This design is particularly useful for corners or around pillars.
