Case Study - Outdoor Living Luxury

This stunning rear garden project in Chelsfield, Kent was designed and built by The Garden Construction Co, transforming the outdoor space from a regular garden and small patio, into the perfect area for relaxing and entertaining.

The Project Design

The project included a porcelain-tiled patio, built-in seating area, outdoor kitchen, and a feature fireplace to provide warmth on chilly evenings.

To create texture and character throughout the design, the walls, steps, seating areas, and fireplace were clad using our Blend 71 brick slips, helping to establish a warm and inviting focal point across the garden.

Having previously used our brick slips on a fireplace renovation project, the builder already knew the quality and finish of The Brick Tile Company products. When asked why they chose to work with us again, they said:
“I was impressed with your choice, quality, and efficiency on delivering. I must also add, your reply to any correspondence is excellent — the best I think I have come across dealing with many companies over the years.”

To help finalise the design, sample boards of Blend 10, Blend 30, and Blend 71 were supplied to the client. After reviewing the options in person, the client selected Blend 71 for its natural warmth and subtle variation, which worked perfectly alongside the contemporary porcelain paving and dark exterior finishes. They chose to install the slips in a vertical stacked bond to create something extra special.

Bringing It to Reality

The installation process was described as slow but highly rewarding, with careful attention given to achieving a high-quality finish throughout the project. The slips were adhered on blockwork, and a traditional sand and cement mixed mortar was used for pointing, in order to closely match the grey patio grout. This small touch played a big part in helping to tie the entire outdoor scheme together seamlessly.

From the built-in seating and raised planters to the outdoor fireplace detail, the brick slips add texture, warmth, and timeless character throughout the garden. The finished project perfectly balances modern landscaping with rustic charm, creating a stylish yet practical outdoor space for entertaining all year round.

The builder commented that the client was “over the moon” with the finished result, and we can certainly see why.
